What to include

Please include your Mac model, macOS version, Footprint version, what you were doing, the steps that led to the issue, and any message shown by the app. Do not send us your imported posts or any personal data. Footprint is private by design, and we do not need your content to help you.

FAQ

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Your imported posts are read and analyzed entirely on your Mac and are never uploaded, shared, or transmitted. The only network use is a one-time download of the optional on-device analysis model and Apple's StoreKit for purchases — neither sends your content.

Does Footprint tell me whether my visa will be approved?

No. Footprint never predicts visa outcomes and never assigns a risk rating. It only highlights your own posts that may be worth a careful human re-read, and it shows an honest report of what was and was not analyzed. It is not legal or immigration advice.

Does it tell me to delete posts?

No. Footprint provides neutral options and explanations only. Whether to keep, add context to, adjust visibility of, or delete your own content is entirely your decision. You should not modify or conceal content to mislead a review, and you should keep everything consistent and truthful with your application.

How do I export my X data to import?

On x.com, go to More → Settings and privacy → Your account → Download an archive of your data, confirm your identity, and request the archive. When X emails you that it is ready, download the .zip to your Mac, then choose "Import data (.zip)" in Footprint. Everything is processed on your Mac.

What does it analyze?

Text posts, on your device. Images, video, audio, and direct messages are not analyzed, and items that cannot be analyzed conclusively are surfaced for your manual review rather than treated as "safe."

Can I restore my purchase?

Report unlocks are consumable purchases tied to a single scan, so there is no "Restore Purchases." Because Footprint keeps no account and stores everything locally, reinstalling the app clears your imported data and any unlocks.
